Zijn stem is scherp, expressief en soms bijna gesproken, maar altijd geladen met emotie en observatie. Hij combineert rock, kunst, politiek en po\u00ebzie tot een unieke stijl die Fischer\u2011Z decennialang herkenbaar heeft gemaakt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Jeugd en Beginjaren<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>John Watts werd geboren op <strong>27 december 1954<\/strong> in Frimley, Surrey, Engeland. Voor hij muzikant werd, studeerde hij <strong>klinische psychologie<\/strong> en werkte hij als <strong>geestelijke gezondheidswerker<\/strong>. In de vroege jaren zeventig speelde hij in de punk\u2011 en new wave\u2011scene, waar zijn scherpe teksten en eigenzinnige stijl opvielen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1976 richtte hij samen met Steve Skolnik de band <strong>Fischer\u2011Z<\/strong> op aan Brunel University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Doorbraak met Fischer\u2011Z (1979\u20131982)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fischer\u2011Z brak door met hun mix van new wave, rock en maatschappijkritische teksten. Hun debuutalbum <em>Word Salad<\/em> (1979) werd een cultfavoriet, mede dankzij de single <strong>The Worker<\/strong>.
